Devlog #8 - September Build


Hey guys,

September ends with a new build  of my game,  with a new lighting, a new UI and a new cover !

For the lighting, I switched to a baked lighting : I wanted to improve my FPS rate, but also play with that old school feeling with low definition lightmap. I 'm satisfied with the result, but it needed for me to do to retake every UVs of the game. But thanks to blender, it wasn't such a pain :)

On the UI side, I work on the visual aspect, but also its code : I manage to add feedback on the button on the right (I like this old school feeling with the big HUD)

And for the Ether gauges, I struggle a bit to make them react how I wanted with the amount of ether the player has. In the end the formula was way simpler than I thought, but hey ... It's always simpler when you found it ;)


I also finished working on the cover. It may need some polishing here and there, but I like it. I can see how to crop it in different ways for banners and stuff. The world is not very detailed, but has that eary feeling in a strange vegetal world. Let's say it's good enough ;)

Next steps  for this week, I need to calm down : Post process materials, props and playtest :)
