Devlog #16 - Credits Roll


Hey guys !

16 days before the release !!! The birth of Essence Of The Tjikko is finally here. And big news, Steam just approved the last build of my game, so these last days will be focused on polishing and debug :D

An naturally I already done my credits roll, my ending cinematic, the game grades and a bit of level art. But the biggest challenge these last weeks was the localization.

First it was stressed because I never had to work with anyone during the whole development, so when you got few days left to finish your job, you're kind of afraid people will forget you need them.  But finally it was a delight, the translators I find were adorable and very committed to the task. They worked very well, and I hope they will enjoy finding their texts in my game.

I could have been stressed by the UI, but it eventually worked out well. I struggle a bit to find the find the fonts that will work well together (because I have many different alphabets : cyrillic, korean , japanese, chinese and of course latin "extended"). I hesitated to take a font very similar to Zelda Wind Waker, but hey, maybe it's a good joke but it didn't fit the game ;)


For the end part of the game, I had to start with a bit of debug : check if the road to the end was clear in a playthrough, retake the intro cinematic and animations... Once I could beat the game clearly, I programmed some grades for the player performance, wrote a mysterious message and finally the credits roll. I listed every people who helped me with the game (playtesters, translators, special thanks...). I don't if you have to give credit to marketplace assets, but hey... I'm not gonna be hesitant forever !


I also updated the FX that appears when I use the special view (it was veeeery old), transformed my water as sap, moved some walls and added some safety barriers (Iknow some friends loves to fall).

So now when I check on my to do list, I have some bonus props to do (books, pictures, architecture things), some sequence for the droplets or the bulburst, an update on the character (its hair, and face mostly), some texture retake for the FX,... But before that I need to make sure there wont be any problem with the build (hardware wise). 

So back to work ;)
