Devlog #11 - Graphic Update 3

Hey guys,

This week I finished a set of props with the laboratory theme.

Most of the time, you should just do a props, do its texture, and use it  as it is baked. But a thing I like to do is to tweak them afterwards, so I spare some time for another task ;) Like the wardrobe for example : I just tweaked the door and the drawers positions and then reuse the clothes inside with a variation of the coat rack mesh.

So now I have a full set of matched furniture, jars, and lab tools, I decorated every lab rooms of my dungeon. The laboratory visual code is quite easy for the props dressing : the furniture are organized but always with a small mess , every desk is different as its owner, and the free space must be straight and narrow. And of course the small props will help to show the identity of the room : microscope,  phials, computers, ...

Next steps was the foliage, because we have an half lab, half tropical forest dungeon. I already had some plants meshes, I just added some vines and creepers, and here we go. I always leave free space for the main way, you are guided by nature to follow an empty path.  Then I highlight with colorful plants and drown useless areas in bushes. This visual noise will not interest the player, so I can focus elsewhere.

It's really important to work with the additive and the soustractive way, because you will never know where the player may go.

Yep ! it's the kind of work I like with the video game development ;)

This week its time to make some camera sequence, and maybe some debug ^^ it's been a while and another friend just played it :)
